As the Warehouse & Logistics Manager, you will oversee the complete physical movement of materials from factory release through freight, customs clearance, warehousing, and final delivery to customers. You will also manage reverse logistics processes including returns, warranty shipments, and remanufacturing flows, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all movements, including cross-border transactions.

This position demands leadership in digital transformation initiatives such as transaction automation, barcode scanning, real-time shipment tracking, and integration with ERP systems. You will have the authority to make key decisions on transport modes, carrier selection, shipment prioritization, emergency logistics, inventory quarantine, and warehouse capacity management within approved delegations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead safe, compliant warehouse and transport operations in line with Liebherr and statutory HSE standards.
• Standardize warehouse and logistics processes across all Liebherr Zambia locations, including central warehouses and project stores.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through rigorous cycle counting and variance reporting to management and finance teams.
• Develop and enforce warehouse policies covering storage, FIFO, tooling control, and housekeeping, with regular audits.
• Manage surplus and obsolete stock, proposing appropriate write-offs or disposals.
• Drive performance monitoring and corrective actions across the warehouse and logistics network to meet service and compliance standards.
• Plan and maintain warehouse capacity, layout, equipment, and infrastructure to support current operations and future growth.
• Oversee inbound and outbound freight logistics, ensuring compliance with customs, import/export regulations, and Incoterms.
• Manage budgets related to freight, clearing, storage, handling equipment, and labor, reporting variances monthly.
• Own the development and continual improvement of performance dashboards for operational, inventory, service, cost, and HSE metrics.
• Lead and develop a team of supervisors, fostering capability building and succession planning.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong competencies in communication, decision-making, responsibility, and professional conduct. You should be adaptable to change and committed to delivering results.

• Educational qualifications: Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or an equivalent field is required.
• Professional certifications: ZIPS certification is mandatory; CIPS or CILT qualifications are advantageous.
• Experience: Minimum 10 years in warehousing, inventory, or logistics management with at least 4 years in a leadership role. Experience in heavy equipment, mining, or OEM sectors is essential.
• Technical knowledge: Expertise in warehouse and inventory management, cycle counting, ABC analysis, freight and customs procedures, ERP warehouse modules, and warehouse safety standards.
