Key Responsibilities for Material Handler Jobs in Zambia
- Manage tools inventory by issuing and receiving tools both physically and through the inventory system.
- Inspect tools to assess reusability and report damaged or lost items with proper tagging and documentation.
- Monitor calibration schedules for meteorological tools and maintain an updated workshop tools catalog monthly.
- Ensure all tool check sheets are completed prior to issuing tools and verify tools returned from repairs, maintaining calibration certificates.
- Oversee workshop consumables and personal protective equipment (PPE) inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and controlled usage.
- Perform errands related to workshop operations, requiring a varied driving license.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Background: Diploma or Certificate in Stores Management, Inventory Management, Logistics Management, or Business Administration with relevant stores experience.
- Professional Experience: 2 to 5 years in tool stores management, warehouse operations, inventory control, or workshop/maintenance environments.
- Technical Skills: Proficient knowledge of hand and power tools, workshop equipment, inventory and stock control, tool issuing and return procedures, cycle counts, stock audits, spare parts identification, and familiarity with tool management systems.
- Additional Requirements: Valid forklift and driver’s licenses, knowledge of occupational health and safety standards, experience in mining or heavy equipment workshops, and computer literacy including Excel, Outlook, and ERP systems.
