Key Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in human resources, with previous experience in an HR supervisory or management role.
  • Experience working in transport, logistics, fleet, distribution, manufacturing, or another operationally intensive environment.
  • Proven experience managing HR activities for a large and diverse workforce, including drivers and operational employees.
  • Strong experience in recruitment and selection across operational, administrative, and specialised positions.
  • Practical experience handling employee relations, grievances, disciplinary procedures, and workplace conflict.
  • Good understanding of Zambian labour legislation, statutory requirements, and HR best practices.
  • Experience coordinating payroll inputs, including salaries, overtime, allowances, leave, and deductions.
  • Experience managing attendance, absenteeism, employee turnover, and workforce planning.
  • Strong understanding of performance management, employee development, training, and HR policies.
  • Good computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using HR information systems.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day HR function while providing professional HR support and guidance to management and employees.
  • Manage recruitment and selection processes, including sourcing, interviewing, appointment administration, and onboarding of new employees.
  • Coordinate employee contracts, personnel records, leave administration, attendance, and other employee lifecycle activities.
  • Handle employee relations matters, including grievances, disciplinary processes, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns.
  • Monitor absenteeism, staff turnover, attendance, and workforce trends, providing recommendations to management.
  • Support managers with performance reviews, performance improvement processes, and employee-related challenges.
  • Coordinate payroll inputs with Finance, ensuring accurate information relating to salaries, overtime, allowances, leave, and deductions.
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are implemented consistently and remain aligned with applicable labour legislation.
  • Coordinate employee training, development, induction, and skills development initiatives.
  • Support employee welfare, engagement, and workplace initiatives to promote a positive working environment.
  • Prepare regular HR reports covering headcount, turnover, absenteeism, recruitment, and other workforce metrics.
  • Assist management with workforce planning, staffing requirements, organisational changes, and succession planning.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and ensure HR documentation is properly managed.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation, statutory requirements, company policies, and HR procedures.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant HR experience with demonstrated progression into supervisory or management responsibilities.
  • Previous experience in an operationally intensive environment such as transport, logistics, fleet, distribution, or manufacturing.
  • Experience managing HR functions for a large workforce, including operational and driver-based employees.
  • Practical experience in employee relations, recruitment, payroll coordination, performance management, and HR compliance.
  • Working knowledge of Zambian labour legislation and statutory employment requirements.
