Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain, Business Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 8–10 years’ experience in transport, logistics, fleet, distribution, or large-scale commercial operations.
• Proven experience managing large driver teams and sizeable commercial fleets, with strong workforce planning and scheduling capabilities.
• Strong practical experience in route planning, fleet optimisation, vehicle utilisation, and improving transport efficiency.
• Proven experience managing operational budgets, controlling costs, and analysing expenditure to identify savings opportunities.
• Experience monitoring fleet and operational KPIs, using data and reporting to improve performance and productivity.
• Strong knowledge of driver performance management, safety procedures, transport legislation, and fleet compliance requirements.
• Experience using fleet management systems, GPS tracking, transport management systems, or similar operational technology would be beneficial.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily transport and logistics operations, ensuring effective vehicle allocation, driver scheduling, fleet availability, and service delivery.
• Lead and manage a large team of drivers and operational staff, including performance management, attendance, training, productivity, and workforce planning.
• Develop and optimise routes and schedules to improve vehicle utilisation, reduce fuel consumption, mileage, downtime, and overall transportation costs.
• Coordinate with maintenance and workshop teams to minimise vehicle downtime and ensure fleet availability and operational capacity.
• Develop and manage operational budgets while monitoring expenditure relating to fuel, maintenance, overtime, routes, and vehicle utilisation.
• Establish and monitor key operational KPIs, including on-time delivery, fuel consumption, driver productivity, fleet availability, cost per kilometre, and route efficiency.
• Analyse operational performance and prepare regular reports and recommendations for senior management to support continuous improvement.
• Ensure drivers, vehicles, and transport operations comply with company policies, road traffic regulations, occupational health and safety requirements, and other applicable legislation.
• Monitor driver behaviour, accidents, incidents, and safety performance, implementing corrective actions where required.
• Manage customer and stakeholder relationships, resolving operational issues and escalations while maintaining high service standards.

• Proficiency in fleet management, GPS tracking, transport management, and operational reporting systems.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond quickly to operational disruptions and changing business requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Logistics, Transport Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related discipline.
• 8–10 years’ relevant experience in transport, logistics, fleet, distribution, or commercial operations.
• Proven experience managing large driver teams and commercial vehicle fleets.
• Experience in route planning, fleet optimisation, budgeting, KPI management, and transport compliance.
