Nanga Farms Limited is a large, irrigated sugarcane estate situated 25Km Northeast of Mazabuka in the Southern Province of Zambia. The company is part of the ABF Sugar Group and a subsidiary of Zambia Sugar Plc. Its main activities are the cultivation of 2,860 hectares of sugarcane and the rearing of 1,400 head of cattle.

The Company now invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the following positions:

1. HANDYMAN FITTER x1 - PERMANENT

Reporting to: Irrigation Foreman - Mechanical

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain in-depth knowledge of mechanical and irrigation equipment and take responsibility for failures resulting from inadequate inspection.
• Undertakes troubleshooting and root cause analysis (RCA)
• Ensure Job Plan / Checklist on the WO is diligently followed
• Execute work and resources for stop day, shut down and off-crop jobs and report progress daily to supervisor
• Assist in drawing materials from Stores and signing of material gate passes
• Liaise with centre pivot and pump station operators during maintenance and handover
• Maintaining house-keeping standards, standby duties and call outs as per roster
• Reporting accidents, carrying out safety inspections for all mechanical and irrigation equipment
• Identify learning needs and coach other maintenance workers, monitor KPIs, adhere to SHERQ, Competition Law and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC) policies.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

Mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, ability to multitask, knowledge of safety regulations, good written and verbal communication.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Full Grade 12 School Certificate
• Craft Certificate in Water Supply / Craft Certificate in Agriculture Mechanics
• Minimum 2 years post-qualifying experience in similar position
• Member of Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
• Good interpersonal skills, personal organization and high integrity
• Certificates verified by Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA)
