Role Overview for Senior Human Resource Officer Jobs in Zambia

The Senior Human Resource Officer will lead efficient and compliant HR operations, focusing on budget planning, workforce management, employee relations, disciplinary processes, wellbeing programs, and policy development. This role ensures operational stability, adherence to company policies, and full compliance with labour laws.

Key Responsibilities

• HR Budget and Workforce Planning: Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to prepare and monitor the HR budget; develop workforce plans aligned with operational needs and budget constraints; analyze costs and workforce trends monthly.
• Policy Development and Implementation: Assist in developing, reviewing, and communicating HR policies ensuring alignment with labour legislation and organizational requirements; monitor policy application and recommend improvements.
• Disciplinary and Employee Relations: Represent HR in disciplinary hearings ensuring fairness and compliance; provide guidance and support to line management; maintain accurate records; coordinate Joint Committee meetings; manage union relations and employee grievances effectively.
• Medical Aid and Employee Wellbeing: Administer medical aid schemes and healthcare benefits; manage enrolments and provider relationships; support wellbeing initiatives and monitor absenteeism trends; serve as the primary contact for employee welfare.
• HR Operations and Compliance: Maintain accurate employee records and documentation; ensure consistent policy application; support daily HR operations; ensure compliance with labour laws and internal policies; assist with audits and governance.

Candidate Profile

• Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in HR, with strong expertise in employee relations, disciplinary procedures, HR budgeting, workforce planning, medical aid administration, and policy development.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex employee relations and support organisational compliance.
