To support the independent identification, assessment, monitoring, analysis, investigation support and reporting of material risks across MFZ. The role provides timely and decision-useful risk information, supports implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management Framework, strengthens risk and control oversight, and follows agreed actions to evidenced closure or escalation.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of MFZ’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework, risk appetite arrangements, policies, methodologies and reporting tools.
  • Support and facilitate assigned Risk and Control Self-Assessments across departments, branches and operational functions, challenge information appropriately and consolidate approved outputs.
  • Maintain departmental and enterprise risk registers, KRI records, incident and loss-event information, action trackers and supporting evidence.
  • Collect, reconcile, validate and analyse risk, financial, credit and operational data, including portfolio quality, liquidity, funding, capital, profitability, interest-rate, counterparty, foreign-exchange and concentration indicators.
  • Prepare draft risk dashboards, forecasts, early-warning indicators, exception reports and management commentary, and escalate material adverse trends, risk appetite breaches and unresolved data-quality concerns.
  • Support stress testing and scenario analysis covering relevant credit, liquidity, capital, earnings and operational exposures.
  • Maintain accurate operational-risk, incident and loss-event records; support incident reviews, thematic analysis, control testing, process walkthroughs and evidence-based reviews of control design and operating effectiveness.
  • Support independent reviews of credit-risk trends, policy exceptions, selected credit files, underwriting, affordability, delegated authorities, collateral, documentation, collections and recovery controls.
  • Support assessments of risks arising from new products, projects, systems, digital channels, partnerships, outsourcing arrangements and significant process changes.
  • Support authorised investigations and fraud-risk reviews through data analysis, evidence gathering, transaction review, loss quantification, documentation and action tracking while maintaining confidentiality and secure working papers.
  • Support Business Impact Analyses, business continuity and disaster-recovery plans, exercises, incident response and post-exercise improvement actions.
  • Prepare concise risk reports, committee papers and presentations; conduct emerging-risk research; and use Excel, Power BI and other approved tools to improve analytics and reporting efficiency.
  • Follow up audit, regulatory, compliance, RCSA, incident and other assigned findings to evidenced closure or escalation, and undertake other reasonable risk-related duties assigned through the approved work plan.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 School Certificate with five credits or better, including Mathematics and English.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Banking, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Administration, Auditing or another relevant field.
  • Recent graduates and entry-level applicants are encouraged to apply; candidates with up to three years of relevant experience in risk management, credit or financial analysis, audit, compliance, investigations, fraud risk, operations, data analysis or a related field are also encouraged to apply.
  • Relevant internship, graduate-trainee or financial-services exposure will be an added advantage.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills, including data cleaning, formulas, lookups, pivot tables, charts and basic dashboard preparation, with ability to prepare clear reports and presentations using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, data-visualisation tools, core banking reports, SQL or other analytical tools will be an added advantage.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body or progress toward a relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage, where applicable.
