Risk Specialist

Job Description

Provide support for the management of financial risks including liquidity risk, market risk in the trading and banking book, counterparty credit risk and capital risk. Facilitate the embedment of the bank’s risk management framework, with a key focus on financial risk. Provide independent risk challenge and oversight while also supporting financial risk governance.

• Preparation/review of financial risk reports.
• Escalation, investigation and exception management.
• KRI tracking and board level reporting
• Support daily trading activities by providing risk oversight and input into tactical decisions.
• Preparation of management reports and Committee packs.
• Act as a key point of contact with Broader Africa Financial Risk team and the execution of the bA Financial Risk program.
• Execution of Ad Hoc requests such as simulations, stress tests and impact assessments.
• Assessment of the level of compliance of business to minimum standards with key focus on solution formulation.
• Ensuring the conformance of processes, systems and business activities to the standards of best practice.
• Implement continuous improvement of both business processes and the control environment through collaboration with business and other Risk partners.

Knowledge & Skills

• Broad understanding of the bank’s risk management structure and reporting lines.
• Understanding of the role of Risk and risk management.
• Understanding of the mechanics financial markets and products.
• Communication skills.
• Task management and prioritization
• Problem solving and process optimization skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• High level understanding of governance and compliance requirements
