Position Overview – Credit and Risk Officer Jobs in Lusaka

The Credit & Risk Officer will play a vital role in managing the company’s credit portfolio by conducting thorough credit analysis, administering loans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position involves preparing regulatory reports, managing Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) and insurance submissions, reconciling loans, and processing settlements and refunds. The successful candidate will ensure all credit activities align with Fair Choice Finance Limited’s Credit Policy and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate loan applications and assess creditworthiness according to company policies and lending criteria.
  • Process loan applications and supporting documentation within established turnaround times.
  • Calculate outright loan settlements and ensure proper closure of fully settled loans.
  • Accurately compute customer refunds and facilitate timely processing.
  • Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date loan and customer records.
  • Prepare monthly credit reports and quarterly inputs for Bank of Zambia prudential reporting.
  • Conduct regular loan account reviews to support portfolio quality and arrears management.
  • Submit monthly CRB reports and update customer credit information promptly.
  • Review external credit information as part of credit assessments.
  • Prepare and submit monthly loan data to insurance providers and manage related insurance submissions.
  • Perform system integrity checks to ensure credit systems comply with approved parameters.
  • Reconcile loans sold or disbursed and maintain accurate loan records monthly.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, lending guidelines, and internal policies.
  • Deliver accurate management, regulatory, and portfolio reports within deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Economics with Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field from a recognized university.
  • Grade 12/School Certificate with at least five credits including English and Mathematics.
  • Minimum of four years’ relevant post-graduate experience, preferably in banking, microfinance, or financial institutions.
  • Proven experience in credit analysis, loan administration, credit risk management, or lending operations.
  • Strong understanding of lending products, credit assessment, and risk management practices.
  • Experience with Credit Reference Bureaus, insurance submissions, and regulatory reporting is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with banking or loan management systems.
