DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTIONS

1. REGISTRATION AND INSPECTIONS OFFICER (1 POSITION)

JOB PURPOSE

To undertake the registration and inspections of Higher Education Institutions to ensure that set standards are met.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Policy and Programmes: Undertakes periodically, the development and implementation of policies and programmes to provide guidance in the operations of Higher Education Institutions.
2. Registration: Undertakes timely, the registration of Higher Education Institutions to facilitate operations in conformity with regulatory conditions.
3. Inspections: Conduct regularly inspections of Higher Education Institutions to ensure compliance with minimum criteria for operations.
4. Research: Undertakes periodically the conduct of research on topical and emerging issues in higher education in order to inform decision making in the regulation of higher education.
5. Reports: Prepares periodically the state of higher education report, list of registered and established Higher Education Institutions and other reports to facilitate decision making and inform the public.
6. Budgeting: Prepares timely Unit budget to facilitate acquisition of resources of the Department.
7. Performance Management: Undertakes timely, preparation of individual work plan to monitor, evaluate and enhance performance.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Academic & Professional Qualifications

1. Full Form V/Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology or a Social Science discipline earned from a recognised Higher Education Institution.
