Role Description

The Mechanical Fitter role at KCM Nchanga is a full-time, on-site position based in Kitwe. The Mechanical Fitter will install, assemble, align, and maintain mechanical components and machinery across plant and mining operations. Daily tasks include diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs and replacements, conducting routine inspections, and carrying out preventive maintenance to minimize equipment downtime. The role involves working with machining and fitting tools, following technical drawings and specifications, and ensuring all work complies with safety and quality standards. The Mechanical Fitter will collaborate with other maintenance and operations team members, complete job reports, and support continuous improvement of mechanical systems.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Fitting and working with Machinery in industrial or mining environments.
• Experience with Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems.
• Competence in Machining, including use of workshop tools and equipment for fabrication and repairs.
• Relevant technical qualification or trade certificate in Mechanical Fitting, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Sound understanding of safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and safe use of tools and lifting equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and engineering specifications.
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capability to work in a team and with minimal supervision.
• Previous experience in mining, heavy industry, or large-scale plant maintenance is an advantage.
