Head of Energy Trader

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in crude oil, refined products, and petroleum derivatives trading.
• Proven experience managing profitable energy commodities trading positions and strategies.
• Strong knowledge of global energy markets, futures, swaps, options, and refined products.
• Experience managing trading exposure, market risk, profitability, and customer flow transactions.
• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and respond to changing market opportunities.
• Experience with financial counterparties, deal structuring, and commercial relationship management.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trading environment and make informed decisions under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a proprietary refined products derivatives trading book across global energy markets.
• Develop and execute short- and medium-term trading strategies using futures, swaps, and options.
• Analyse crude oil, refined products, and market trends to identify profitable trading opportunities.
• Monitor transactions, positions, exposure, risk, and profitability to maintain an accurate trade book.
• Manage customer flow business and trade effectively around existing market exposure.
• Build relationships with financial counterparties and identify new commercial opportunities.
• Support deal structuring, business development, and strategic relationship management activities.
• Promote effective use of trading and execution platforms to improve trading performance.
• Adapt trading strategies based on market conditions, customer requirements, and commercial opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience with futures, swaps, options, and other relevant trading instruments.
• Additional professional qualifications in finance, trading, commodities, or related fields would be advantageous.
