About the Role: Equipment Inspector Jobs in Kalumbila

Reporting directly to the Shift Supervisor, the Equipment Inspector plays a pivotal role in maintaining both mobile and fixed mining equipment. The successful candidate will conduct thorough inspections, identify defects, and provide detailed technical reports to support maintenance activities. This position requires a proactive approach to safety, quality assurance, and continuous improvement aligned with Barrick’s core values:

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, scheduled, statutory, and ad-hoc inspections on mobile and fixed mining equipment
  • Detect equipment defects, wear, performance deviations, and potential failures
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports and ensure accurate data entry into SAP
  • Escalate critical defects promptly to supervisors and maintenance planners
  • Verify repair quality and compliance with maintenance standards
  • Participate in failure investigations and provide technical feedback
  • Support asset integrity programs, shutdowns, and reliability improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with mine safety regulations, OEM standards, and company procedures
  • Assist in updating inspection checklists, standards, and procedures
  • Analyze equipment performance to identify improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with maintenance planners to manage schedules and maintenance activities efficiently
  • Conduct structured safety inspections alongside field maintenance staff

Candidate Requirements

  • Full Grade Twelve School Certificate
  • Minimum Craft Certificate in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Heavy Equipment Maintenance, or equivalent qualification
  • At least 2 years of experience in heavy earthmoving equipment maintenance
  • Proficient in using CMMS systems such as SAP and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent technical reporting skills
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across maintenance, operations, and reliability teams
  • Membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia
  • Possession of a valid Zambian driver’s license is an advantage
