Reporting to the Senior Reconciliation Geologist Operations, you will be responsible for the provision of all operations of ROM pad related activities, development and compliance of daily, weekly, quarterly and yearly ore feed plans to deliver on business plans. Interface with the mine planners, mine operations, and metallurgical engineers to optimize the profitable delivery of the mine plan. All work programs are to be implemented consistently with sound world class operating principles as well as optimizing the financial objectives of the business.

Responsibilities or duties

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Daily supervision of ROM pad related activities, development and compliance of daily, weekly, quarterly and yearly ore feed plans.
  • Ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly crusher throughput targets are consistently achieved.
  • Track stockpile balances, ore types, blending strategy, and material quality.
  • Communicate feed grade trends, mining issues, and ore quality changes to mining operations and metallurgy.
  • To collaborate closely with the production geologist and Geometallurgy specialists to ensure all feed plans are achieved.
  • Engage closely with both the production geologist, geometallurgy specialists and mining operations to ensure good quality ore is delivered at the processing plant.
  • Actively participate in ROM stockpile modelling through data, analysis, validation and collaboration with survey team to improve stockpile accuracy and feed grade predictions.
  • Manage dilution, ore loss, and material misclassification.
  • Ensure the daily, weekly and monthly feed blends are communicated.
  • Provide dispatch with clear instructions on the correct material type and destination.
  • Monitor ore movements from different mining areas (e.g., pits, stockpiles, ROM pads) to ensure the correct blend of ore types is delivered to the mill.
  • Work closely with mine planning and production teams to define daily, weekly, and monthly feed blend targets.
  • Identify and communicate potential deviations in the planned versus actual feed blend.
  • Ensure ore blocks are optimally designed to minimize ore loss and dilution.
  • Ensure the ore blocks mined and fed to the crusher are correctly recorded and reported on a timely manner.
  • Ensure the mined ore blocks and the material fed to the crusher are accurately tracked and recorded in a timely manner.
  • Vulcan block model is being correctly flagged and updated with mineable blocks at the end of each month. Know how to evaluate and report mineable blocks against the reserve model and report.
  • Track and report broken and in-situ ore stocks.
  • Provide input or feedback to daily, weekly and monthly production schedules

Qualifications or requirements

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate.
  • Degree (B.Sc.) in Geology, Mining Geology or similar.
  • Proficient in software such as Datamine, Vulcan, Surpac, Leapfrog, or MineSight. Advanced Excel skills are an added advantage.
  • Familiar with data systems such as acQuire, SQL, or GIS platforms.
  • Proficient with GPS, surveying software, and MS Office.
  • Member of Engineering Institution of Zambia.
  • Holder of a valid Zambian driver’s license; will be an added advantage.

Experience needed

Minimum 3 years of experience in mining geology, with at least 2 years in ore control or grade control roles
