About the Role – Auto Electrician Opportunities in Kalumbila

Reporting directly to the Shift Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing electrical faults, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electrical systems on heavy mobile mining equipment. This role demands a hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced mining environment.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting electrical diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on haul trucks, loaders, excavators, drills, and light vehicles.
• Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting wiring, sensors, controllers, and charging systems.
• Testing, calibrating, and repairing alternators, starters, batteries, lighting circuits, and control modules.
• Performing routine inspections to detect early signs of electrical failure or component wear.
• Providing rapid response and effective repair solutions during equipment breakdowns.
• Assisting with the installation and upkeep of fleet monitoring, safety devices, and auxiliary systems.
• Completing work orders and maintenance records accurately using the CMMS.
• Ensuring compliance with mine safety standards, electrical regulations, and OEM requirements.
• Participating in initiatives aimed at reducing downtime and enhancing equipment reliability.

Qualifications and Experience Required for Auto Electrician Jobs in Kalumbila

Candidates interested in this position must meet the following criteria:

• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Minimum Craft Certificate in Auto Electrical or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 2 years of experience working on electrical systems within mining, heavy industrial, or commercial fleet environments.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for advanced electrical and electronic systems.
• Experience with CAN bus systems, sensors, ECUs, and digital diagnostic tools.
• Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems such as SAP, Pronto, or similar is advantageous.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
• Membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
• Possession of a valid Zambian driver’s license is an added advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
