The successful applicant will join the Safety & Risk Department in a full-time, permanent capacity and play a critical role in fire safety and emergency preparedness.

Key Responsibilities for SHERQ Officer Jobs in Mazabuka

• Coordinate comprehensive fire safety risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Support fire safety investigations, conduct emergency drills, and organize simulations.
• Maintain and regularly update the Fire Risk Register to track hazards and controls.
• Perform safety inspections and internal audits to ensure compliance with legislation and company safety standards.
• Assist emergency response teams and evaluate the effectiveness of emergency equipment.
• Promote fire safety awareness among employees and local communities.
• Prepare detailed fire safety management reports and monitor implementation of corrective actions.
• Ensure adherence to SHERQ policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Full Grade 12 Certificate.
• Diploma in Fire Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field.
• Certification such as SAMTRAC or NEBOSH is required.
• Preferably 3 to 5 years of experience in a health and safety role within operational environments like factories or agricultural settings.
• Strong knowledge of occupational safety and health legislation.
• Excellent report writing, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Training in First Aid, fire prevention, and emergency response is advantageous.
• All relevant qualifications must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA), where applicable.
