About the Role: Safety Officer Jobs in Kapiri Mposhi

As a Safety Officer at Hiya Agri Zambia Ltd, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across our operations. The position is full-time and based in Kapiri Mposhi, where you will ensure compliance with company policies, client safety requirements, and statutory regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide effective HSE supervision and guidance to all personnel.
• Monitor adherence to company HSE policies, client safety standards, and legal requirements.
• Conduct regular warehouse inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments.
• Ensure compliance with safe work procedures, permit-to-work systems, and risk control measures.
• Oversee high-risk activities during new projects and plant maintenance.
• Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and shift handovers to promote safe work practices.
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, ensuring prompt reporting and corrective action.
• Verify proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by contractors and employees.
• Halt unsafe work activities when necessary and recommend corrective or preventive measures.
• Support emergency response efforts and maintain emergency equipment readiness.
• Maintain accurate HSE documentation including inspection and incident reports.
• Collaborate with client HSE representatives to ensure contractual compliance.
• Mentor employees on safety awareness and best practices.
• Participate actively in safety committee meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Monitor environmental compliance, including waste management, dust control, spill prevention, and housekeeping.
• Promote a positive safety culture through leadership, coaching, and visible commitment to HSE excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Safety Management, or a related field.
• Membership with a recognised professional safety organisation.
• At least 2 years of practical experience in Health, Safety, and Environment roles.
