About the Role: Sector Head Telecommunications Jobs in Lusaka

The Sector Head – Telecommunications will drive business growth, manage key relationships, and ensure portfolio profitability within the telecommunications sector. Reporting to the Head of Corporate and Investment Banking, this role involves developing tailored banking solutions for telecommunications operators, technology service providers, ISPs, infrastructure companies, and related businesses in the value chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Business Development & Revenue Growth: Formulate and implement sector strategies aligned with corporate goals, grow market share, mobilize deposits, increase loan portfolios, and generate non-funded income.
• Relationship Management: Serve as the primary contact for major telecom clients, strengthen engagement through strategic reviews, and deliver customised financial solutions to enhance client satisfaction and retention.
• Credit & Risk Management: Evaluate financing opportunities, provide sector insights to credit committees, monitor portfolio performance, and maintain risk compliance.
• Sector Research & Market Intelligence: Track industry developments, competitor activity, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to inform senior management and recommend new business opportunities.
• Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with regulators, industry associations, and strategic partners; represent the Bank at sector forums and events.
• Team Leadership: Guide and mentor Relationship Managers, foster a performance-driven culture, and contribute to talent development and succession planning.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Telecommunications Management, or a related field.
• Master’s Degree (MBA, Finance, Strategy, or related discipline) is advantageous.
• 5 to 8 years of banking experience, with at least 5 years in Corporate Banking, Commercial Banking, Relationship Management, or Sector Banking.
• Proven experience managing large corporate clients and deep understanding of telecommunications industry dynamics.
• Expertise in structured lending, cash management, and transaction banking.

Technical and Behavioural Competencies

• Corporate Banking, Credit Analysis, Financial Modelling, Trade Finance, Treasury Solutions, Enterprise Risk Management.
• Strong telecommunications industry knowledge and business development skills.
• Strategic thinking, commercial acumen, negotiation, leadership, stakeholder engagement, and excellent communication skills.
• Analytical mindset, results-driven approach, and customer centricity.
