About the Role: Risk Management Officer Jobs in Lusaka

This is a fixed-term contract position for three years, reporting directly to the Manager of Risk and Quality Assurance. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing the Enterprise Risk Management Framework and ensuring the Board’s exposure to risk is effectively managed through comprehensive monitoring and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and reviewing risk management policies by gathering relevant information and preparing draft inputs.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of risk management activities under supervisor guidance.
• Liaise with different departments to identify and document strategic and operational risks.
• Collect and analyse data to describe and estimate risks using approved methodologies.
• Maintain an up-to-date institutional risk register and evaluate risks against established criteria.
• Track risk mitigation actions, prepare progress reports, and escalate outstanding risks to management.
• Support internal and external audits by compiling records and coordinating information requests.
• Organise staff training to enhance risk awareness across the organisation.
• Provide administrative and secretariat support to the Risk Management Technical Committee.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Educational Background: Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent and a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years relevant work experience.
• Risk Management Skills: Proficiency in risk identification, assessment, and evaluation using recognised methodologies.
• Communication: Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly explain risk-related matters.
• Report Writing: Ability to prepare detailed briefs, risk reports, and maintain accurate records.
• Computer Literacy: Competent in using applications to maintain risk records and generate reports.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong negotiation and coordination skills to work effectively with internal departments and external stakeholders.
• Integrity and Confidentiality: Commitment to handling institutional information responsibly and maintaining confidentiality.
• Verification: All qualifications must be verified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
