Key Responsibilities for Operations & Engineering Projects Manager Jobs in Lusaka

The role encompasses two primary areas of responsibility:

• Operations Management:

  • Plan and allocate daily and weekly workloads, managing personnel, equipment, and materials across operational tasks and projects.
  • Lead supervisors and delivery teams, monitor productivity, and resolve any resource constraints.
  • Coordinate procurement, logistics, and equipment availability to meet delivery commitments.
  • Continuously improve operating procedures, enhance team capabilities, and boost operational efficiency.
• Engineering and Project Delivery:

  • Manage engineering projects from scope definition, estimating, and technical planning through execution, testing, and client handover.
  • Ensure all engineering solutions, drawings, specifications, and work methods undergo appropriate technical review and approval.
  • Control project schedules, budgets, risks, and changes, taking corrective action when necessary to maintain delivery timelines.
  • Coordinate engineers, site teams, suppliers, and subcontractors to meet agreed project requirements.
  • Maintain technical quality, resolve delivery challenges, and ensure comprehensive project documentation and client acceptance.

In both operational and project capacities, you will uphold health, safety, environmental, and quality standards, manage client communications, and report operational and financial performance to company leadership.

Qualifications and Experience

• A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, or an equivalent qualification relevant to BREYTA ENGINEERING LIMITED’s services.
• Project management qualification and experience with complex mechanical and civil engineering projects is advantageous.
• At least eight years of relevant engineering experience, including a minimum of three years in a management role.
• Proven track record in leading operational teams and delivering engineering projects from planning through to completion.
• Strong knowledge of technical review processes, project planning, budgeting, cost control, and resource management.
• Experience managing suppliers, subcontractors, and client requirements effectively.
• Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in CAD software, spreadsheets, and relevant planning, reporting, and engineering tools.
• Fully paid EIZ certification and Registered Engineer (R.Eng) status required for this role.
