Position Overview: Manager – Human Capital

Reporting directly to the Chief Human Capital Officer, the Manager – Human Capital will play a critical role in implementing effective human capital strategies, policies, and procedures. The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive HR services encompassing recruitment, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, compliance, and reporting, all aligned with ZSIC General Insurance Limited’s strategic objectives and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities for Human Capital Manager Jobs in Lusaka

• Recruitment and Staffing: Lead the sourcing, shortlisting, interviewing, and selection of candidates; coordinate onboarding and induction processes; maintain accurate recruitment records and staff files.
• Performance Management: Implement and monitor performance management systems; track appraisals and performance improvement plans; support managers and employees during appraisal cycles.
• Learning and Development: Identify training needs in collaboration with supervisors and employees; coordinate internal and external training programs; maintain training records and evaluate effectiveness.
• Employee Relations and Welfare: Manage grievances, disciplinary actions, and welfare matters in compliance with policies and labour laws; promote a positive work environment and employee engagement; provide guidance on HR policies and procedures.
• Compensation and Benefits: Provide accurate HR data for payroll preparation; administer leave management and benefits schemes; maintain up-to-date employee records and HR databases.
• Compliance, Policy, and Reporting: Ensure adherence to Zambian labour laws and internal policies; review and update HR policies; support audits and statutory reporting; prepare periodic HR reports for management review.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Degree in Human Resource Management, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
• Membership with the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management (ZIHRM).
• Minimum of 7 years’ relevant professional experience.
• ZAQA certification for all qualifications.

Technical Skills and Competencies

• Comprehensive knowledge of Zambian labour laws and HR best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR Information Systems (HRIS).
• Strong analytical abilities and report-writing skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with professionalism and integrity.
• Effective multitasking and responsiveness to employee needs.

Work Environment and Travel

This is an office-based role within ZSIC General Insurance Limited’s premises, requiring regular interaction with staff and management. Professional discretion is essential when handling sensitive information. Occasional travel may be necessary to support training initiatives or branch operations.
