IT Manager
Key Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in IT support, systems administration, infrastructure, or IT management.
- Previous experience managing, supervising, or coordinating a small IT team or function.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of IT infrastructure, networking, hardware, software, and end-user support.
- Experience managing Windows environments, servers, workstations, connectivity, and business applications.
- Good understanding of IT security, backups, access management, data protection, and IT controls.
- Experience managing user accounts, permissions, devices, IT assets, and system access.
- Experience managing external IT service providers, technology vendors, software suppliers, and support contracts.
- Practical experience with IT budgeting, procurement, expenditure management, and asset replacement planning.
- Experience supporting multiple locations, offices, or operational environments.
- Knowledge of ERP, accounting, business management, or financial systems such as Sage.
- Experience with POS systems, CCTV, access control, Wi-Fi, and other operational technology would be an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
- Strong organisational, communication, planning, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to identify IT risks, recommend improvements, and implement practical technology solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day IT operations, infrastructure, systems, applications, and end-user support.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting for hardware, software, networks, connectivity, and system-related issues.
- Monitor IT systems and proactively identify technical problems before they affect business operations.
- Maintain servers, workstations, network equipment, printers, Wi-Fi, and other IT infrastructure.
- Manage IT security, user access, permissions, backups, data protection, and system continuity.
- Maintain accurate records of IT assets, equipment, software licences, users, and system configurations.
- Implement IT processes, policies, controls, procedures, and documentation to improve operational efficiency.
- Lead and support the IT team through task allocation, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
- Coordinate IT support across different locations and ensure consistent service delivery.
- Manage external IT providers, vendors, software suppliers, internet providers, and service agreements.
- Oversee IT procurement, equipment replacement, software requirements, and technology-related expenditure.
- Develop and manage IT budgets while monitoring costs and ensuring responsible expenditure.
- Evaluate existing systems and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, security, and reliability.
- Support the implementation, integration, and maintenance of new technology and business systems.
- Ensure IT systems and processes support business requirements and operational objectives.
- Prepare IT reports, maintain technical documentation, and provide management with updates on IT performance.
- Identify potential IT risks and implement appropriate controls and preventative measures.
- Ensure business systems, connectivity, and technology remain available and reliable for users.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity processes.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies and recommend suitable improvements where relevant.

Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Relevant IT certifications in systems administration, networking, cybersecurity, infrastructure, or related areas.
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in IT support, systems administration, infrastructure, or IT management.
- Previous experience supervising or managing an IT team or function.
- Experience managing IT infrastructure across multiple departments or locations.
- Experience with ERP, Sage, business management, accounting, or financial systems.
- Experience with networking, servers, hardware, software, security, backups, and user support.
- Experience managing IT vendors, service providers, procurement, and technology projects.
- Exposure to POS systems, property management systems, CCTV, access control, or multi-site networks.
- Experience with IT budgeting, expenditure monitoring, and asset management.
- Strong understanding of IT policies, controls, security standards, and business continuity.
- Experience in a fast-paced operational environment would be beneficial.
