Key Responsibilities for HSE Coordinator Jobs in Zambia

• Promote occupational health and safety compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
• Lead investigations into accidents and unsafe conditions, analyze causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Drive consistency by cascading lessons learned from incidents and standardizing HSE practices according to BIA standards.
• Coordinate emergency procedures, including mine rescues, firefighting, and first aid teams.
• Maintain and update hazard identification and risk assessment documentation.
• Ensure operational controls are effective, necessary, and sufficient.
• Promote Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for non-routine activities and ensure understanding and application.
• Participate in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routine and non-routine activities and train personnel accordingly.
• Oversee weekly inspections and ensure equipment certification complies with legislation.
• Monitor HSE training needs, develop, and implement health and safety training sessions.
• Compile monthly reports on HSE performance indicators.
• Report incidents promptly and contribute to accident investigations, proposing preventive measures.
• Implement and follow up on the 5S methodology with regular audits and reporting.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Degree in Health, Safety & Environment or related discipline; NEBOSH Diploma preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards; lead auditor certification is an advantage.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in HSE roles.
• Minimum of 3 years supervisory or managerial experience on mining sites.
