About IBZ Group Limited and the Role

IBZ Group Limited manages a diverse fleet including eight Volvo 30-ton trucks, one MAN 30-ton truck, one Mercedes-Benz 12-ton truck, trailers, and various support vehicles. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of vehicle performance and safety, and we require an experienced Fleet Mechanic to ensure our fleet operates efficiently and reliably.

Key Responsibilities for Fleet Mechanic Jobs in Lusaka

• Service and maintain all company trucks, trailers, and support vehicles to ensure optimal functionality.
• Perform preventive maintenance, mechanical inspections, diagnostics, and repairs.
• Respond promptly to vehicle breakdowns and emergencies.
• Maintain detailed service histories, maintenance schedules, and mechanical checklists.
• Coordinate procurement and management of spare parts and consumables.
• Inspect critical vehicle components including tyres, batteries, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems.
• Enforce daily driver pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Assist in driver technical vetting and provide orientation on vehicle care best practices.
• Monitor fuel consumption and support management in implementing fuel-control measures.
• Maintain inventory of truck tools, equipment, and spare parts.
• Conduct regular checks to prevent unauthorized swapping or removal of tyres, batteries, and other components.
• Ensure the cleanliness, roadworthiness, and general condition of all vehicles.
• Liaise with external workshops and suppliers for specialized repairs.
• Provide management with regular reports on fleet condition, repairs, and maintenance requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

• Formal qualification in Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of practical experience, preferably with heavy commercial vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of Volvo, MAN, and Mercedes-Benz trucks is highly advantageous.
• Experience working with trailers is a plus.
• Valid driver’s licence, ideally with heavy vehicle driving experience.
• Possession of a valid passport is mandatory.
• Excellent record-keeping and reporting skills.
