Finance Manager
A Lusaka based business is seeking a highly competent and experienced Accountant to take up the position of Finance Manager for Multiple Corporations.
The successful candidate will have a strong accounting and financial management background, combined with the ability to oversee the day-to-day administration, operations, staff and overall business activities.
This is a hands-on management position requiring an individual who can take ownership of the finance function while providing effective leadership and operational oversight across the business.
Responsibilities or duties
Finance & Accounting
- Oversee the complete accounting function of the business.
- Manage bookkeeping, general ledger, journals and financial records.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Manage client accounts and debtor collections.
- Conduct bank and general ledger reconciliations.
- Manage banking, cash flow and petty cash.
- Prepare and administer monthly payroll.
- Monitor expenditure and cost controls.
- Ensure timely and accurate statutory and tax compliance.
- Manage submissions relating to PAYE, NAPSA, NHIMA, VAT, Withholding Tax, Income Tax, Workers Compensation, Insurance and other applicable statutory obligations.
- Ensure compliance with Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) requirements and electronic invoicing systems such as Smart Invoice.
- Provide management with accurate financial information to support business planning and decision-making.
Management & Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business.
- Ensure efficient delivery of services and effective utilisation of company resources.
- Develop and implement operational procedures and controls.
- Monitor business performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Coordinate procurement, suppliers, contractors and service providers.
- Oversee inventory, assets, equipment and operational facilities.
- Ensure business continuity and effective operational planning.
- Liaise with banks, government institutions, insurers, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.
Administration & Human Resources
- Supervise and provide leadership to staff across the business.
- Participate in recruitment, onboarding and staff training.
- Manage employee records, leave, attendance and related documentation.
- Monitor staff performance and provide guidance and support.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are implemented effectively.
- Maintain proper and confidential company records.
Customer & Business Relations
- Maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and business partners.
- Handle and resolve customer and operational issues professionally.
- Support business development and customer retention.
- Represent the company professionally when dealing with external stakeholders.
- Provide management with recommendations on business and operational matters.
Qualifications or requirements
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is essential.
- Professional qualification or progression towards ACCA, ZICA or equivalent will be a strong advantage.
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant accounting and management experience, preferably in a small or medium-sized business environment.
- Strong practical experience in financial accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, taxation and financial reporting.
- Proven experience with ZRA compliance and statutory returns.
- Experience with accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks or equivalent.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management position is essential.
- Experience managing staff and coordinating business operations will be an advantage.
