Scribante Mining Ltd (Brauteseth Blasting Mine), operating under Scribante/Svett Mining Company, is seeking energetic and dedicated Zambian candidates for drilling rig operator jobs in Lumwana. We invite qualified applicants to join our mining team at the Lumwana Project as a Drilling Rig Operator (Driller) on a full-time contract basis.

Position Overview: Drilling Rig Operator – Lumwana Project

Reporting directly to the Drilling Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for operating drilling rigs to support safe and efficient drilling operations within an open-pit mining environment. This role demands precision, adherence to safety protocols, and effective communication with the maintenance and blasting teams.

Key Responsibilities for Drilling Rig Operator Jobs in Lumwana

• Operate drilling rigs to bore blast holes to specified depths and locations in the open pit.
• Implement drill layouts and patterns as directed by the Drilling Supervisor.
• Manage and maintain drill supplies, tools, and accessories to ensure operational readiness.
• Accurately record drill patterns, prepare detailed reports, and submit them promptly.
• Complete safety checklists diligently and report any mechanical faults or terrain issues to maintenance.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of drilling equipment, keeping thorough records.
• Assist with basic maintenance of drill rigs and support measuring and staking out drilling locations.
• Monitor drilling fluid levels, including engine oil, hydraulic oil, rock oil, compressor oil, antifreeze, and fuel.
• Communicate drilling conditions such as rock types, wet holes, voids, mud seams, and drill bit sizes to the blaster-in-charge.
• Adhere strictly to all safety regulations and exercise caution during all operations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support mining operations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 Certificate and a valid Drill Rig Operating Certificate.
• Proven ability to operate Sandvik drilling machines, particularly Leopard DI550, DI650i, and DI650 models.
• Competence in reading, writing, and interpreting instructions, manuals, and technical documents, including the use of a tape measure.
• Minimum of two years’ experience working in the drilling section of an open-pit mining operation.
• Strong understanding of safe working procedures and mining operations.
