2) POSITION: Civil Engineer

Department: Engineering / Construction

Reports To: Site Manager

1. Job Purpose

The Civil Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, supervising, and managing construction and infrastructure projects to ensure that they are completed safely, efficiently, within budget, and in accordance with approved designs, engineering standards, and relevant regulations.

2. Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and supervise the construction of buildings, roads, bridges, drainage systems, and other infrastructure projects.
• Prepare engineering drawings, technical specifications, bills of quantities, and cost estimates.
• Conduct site inspections, surveys, and feasibility assessments.
• Ensure that construction work complies with approved drawings, project specifications, and safety standards.
• Monitor project progress to ensure completion within agreed timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
• Inspect construction materials and workmanship to ensure quality standards are maintained.
• Identify technical problems on site and recommend appropriate engineering solutions.
• Prepare progress reports, inspection reports, and other technical documentation.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and relevant building regulations.
• Assist in procurement planning, resource allocation, and project cost control.
• Review construction plans and recommend improvements where necessary.

3. Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Registration with EIZ.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in construction, infrastructure development, or project supervision.
• Knowledge of civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or relevant structural analysis software.
• Understanding of construction methods, materials, engineering standards, and health and safety requirements.
