About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining both the electrical and mechanical systems of company and client vehicles. This position requires a strong background in vehicle wiring, diagnostics, and electronic control units (ECUs), as well as practical skills in general mechanical repairs to ensure optimal vehicle performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities for Auto Electrician Jobs in Lusaka

• Electrical Diagnostics & Repairs: Utilize modern scanning tools and diagnostic equipment to inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot complex automotive electrical faults.
• Wiring & Components: Repair, replace, and maintain wiring harnesses, alternators, starter motors, batteries, lighting systems, and dashboard electronics.
• Mechanical Support: Perform routine mechanical servicing, including brake system checks, suspension component replacements, and assist senior mechanics as needed.
• Preventative Maintenance: Conduct scheduled safety and electrical inspections on vehicles and heavy equipment to reduce downtime and improve reliability.
• Documentation & Safety: Maintain accurate repair logs, manage parts requests efficiently, and strictly adhere to workshop safety guidelines and environmental standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Education: Diploma in Automotive Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
• Experience: Two to four years of hands-on experience as an Auto Electrician in a busy automotive workshop or fleet management environment.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, and experienced with computerized diagnostic scanners.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to troubleshoot both electrical and mechanical issues effectively.
• Attributes: Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, good communication abilities, and possession of a valid driver’s license are advantageous.
