Position Overview for Abnormal Truck Driver Jobs in Lusaka

As an Abnormal Truck Driver at Honsttrans, you will be responsible for operating heavy-duty trucks and trailers to transport abnormal loads safely and efficiently. The role demands expertise in navigating complex cross-border routes linking Zambia with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Tanzania, and South Africa, including key destinations such as Lubumbashi, Likasi, and Kolwezi.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy-duty trucks and trailers during cross-border transport of abnormal loads.
• Adhere strictly to road safety regulations and company procedures throughout all trips.
• Navigate designated routes between Zambia, DRC, Tanzania, and South Africa.
• Conduct thorough daily inspections to identify and report any mechanical faults.
• Ensure trucks and trailers remain roadworthy before and during journeys.
• Maintain accurate trip documentation in compliance with cross-border requirements.
• Verify validity of all travel, driving, and vehicle documentation prior to departure.
• Promptly report any incidents, mechanical issues, or operational challenges encountered.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least 5 years of proven experience driving heavy-duty trucks, particularly abnormal loads.
• Valid PSV driving licence covering heavy-goods vehicles and trailers.
• Recognised Defensive Driving Certificate such as BELSAM or equivalent.
• Dangerous Goods (DG) certificate, if applicable.
• Valid Police Clearance Certificate with fingerprints.
• Current medical fitness certificate.
• Valid passport for international travel.
• Experience operating Chinese-brand trucks and trailers is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Zambia–DRC, Tanzania–Zambia, and South Africa–Zambia routes.
• Basic mechanical skills for daily truck inspections.
• Minimum two traceable references from previous employers.
• Demonstrated honesty, discipline, reliability, and commitment to safety.
