Role Overview: Trainee Systems Engineer Jobs in Kitwe

As a Trainee Systems Engineer at Sparc Systems Ltd, you will be responsible for supporting the installation, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise servers and systems. You will perform routine system administration tasks, monitor performance, and assist with patching and backup operations. Your role will also include providing technical support, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring high availability and capacity of IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain enterprise servers and systems.
• Perform routine system administration and preventative maintenance.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity to ensure optimal operation.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access in line with approved procedures.
• Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery activities.
• Respond to incidents, service requests, and technical issues through established processes.
• Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, application, and infrastructure problems.
• Escalate complex issues to senior team members as needed.
• Support virtualization, storage, networking, and monitoring platforms.
• Maintain accurate documentation and update system inventories regularly.
• Provide professional and timely support to client organizations, adhering to service level agreements.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge-sharing within the team.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of one year’s relevant experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or technical support.
• Familiarity with Windows and/or Linux operating environments.
• Experience supporting enterprise users, systems, or infrastructure.
• Knowledge of incident and service request management processes.
• Exposure to virtualization, backup, networking, and monitoring technologies.
• Experience in a client-facing or managed services environment is advantageous.
