Role Overview

The TLB/JCB Operator will be responsible for safe and efficient operating of a Tractor Loader Backhoe to perform excavation, loading, trenching, backfilling, and site clearance works. The role supports construction and maintenance projects while ensuring compliance with safety standards and equipment care.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate TLB/JCB to dig trenches, load materials, level ground, and backfill
• Perform excavation for foundations, drainage, fuel lines, and utilities
• Move sand, gravel, soil, and other materials on site
• Follow site drawings and instructions from supervisor accurately
• Conduct daily pre-start checks: oil, water, hydraulics, brakes, lights
• Adhere to OHS, ZEMA, and company safety procedures at all times.
• Carry out basic daily servicing: greasing, cleaning, checking for leaks
• Report mechanical faults to mechanic/supervisor
• Keep TLB clean and in good working condition Minimize fuel consumption and avoid equipment abuse.
• Assist with loading/unloading of materials Work with ground workers to mark and complete tasks
• Perform extra tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Key Requirements

Qualifications

• Grade 12 Certificate minimum
• License: Valid Class C or CE Driver’s License + Certified TLB Operator Certificate

Experience

• 2+ years' operating TLB on construction/mining/road projects

Skills

• Good knowledge of TLB controls, site safety, basic mechanical knowledge

Personal Attributes

• Physically fit, alert, honest, able to work shifts/weekends

Advantageous Experience

• Experience in fuel station construction, roadworks, or pipe laying.
