About the Role: System Controller Jobs in Kitwe

Reporting directly to the Senior Engineer – System Control, the successful candidate will be responsible for the control and coordination of the CEC power system. The role requires precision in carrying out remote switching operations to maintain power continuity, issuing clear system operating instructions, and promptly addressing system abnormalities to restore power efficiently.

Key responsibilities include maintaining accurate system operation records, updating control diagrams for system oversight, and ensuring frequency and voltage remain within contractual limits. The System Controller will also issue equipment work permits and strictly adhere to all system regulations to safeguard personnel and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute remote switching operations to ensure continuous electrical power supply.
• Communicate system operating instructions clearly to maintain safe working conditions.
• Diagnose and respond to system abnormalities promptly to minimize downtime.
• Maintain detailed and accurate logs of system operations for management and billing.
• Update system control diagrams to provide an accurate real-time overview.
• Ensure frequency and voltage compliance with bulk and power supply agreements.
• Issue work permits for equipment removed from the system.
• Adhere strictly to system safety regulations to protect personnel and equipment.
• Support budgetary control efforts and promote cost management initiatives.
• Comply with and promote the Company’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and risk management policies.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues and management to meet business objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Diploma in Electrical Technology.
• Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Accreditation with a recognized professional engineering body.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in power and system control.
• Strong knowledge of motor-related applications.
• In-depth understanding of High Tension (HT) electrical systems.
• Familiarity with power consumption guidelines and regulatory compliance.
• Comprehensive knowledge of transformer core applications and mechanisms.
