NISIR is a government institution under the Ministry of Technology and Science, mandated by the Science and Technology Act No. 26 of 1997 to initiate, promote and conduct scientific, technological and industrial research. ### We are recruiting scientists across five disciplines. Zambian and international candidates are welcome to apply.

The Job Purpose is to initiate and conduct scientific and industrial research in your field of specialisation and to build the proposals, partnerships and people that carry that research out of the laboratory and into Zambian industry. **Choose the discipline that matches your training, and apply for one discipline and one duty station only.**ng fields and technical background
Lusaka
Food Science, Nutrition and Technology, or Human Nutrition.
Food science research, and the analytical techniques behind composition, quality and safety testing.
Lusaka
Environmental Science or Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Integrated Water Resources Management, or Hydrology.
Water and environmental research, with the analytical methods your field relies on.
Chilanga
Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, or Organic Chemistry.
Plant physiology, molecular biology or phytochemistry, and bioassays for biological activity. Tissue culture, genetics or metabolomics an advantage.
Kitwe
Organic Chemistry, Natural Products, Plant Science, Crop or Agricultural Science, Biological Science, or Environmental Science.
Extraction, characterisation and bioassay-guided evaluation of natural products. Tissue culture, genetics or metabolomics an advantage.
Lusaka
Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials, Chemical Engineering, Electrochemistry or Solid-State Chemistry, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with battery specialisation, or Physics.
Nanomaterials, crystallography, thermal and mechanical properties, reaction engineering, process design and electrochemical testing; XRD, SEM/TEM and Raman spectroscopy; cathode and anode precursors.
A statutory mandate to initiate, promote and conduct research that reaches Zambian industry — not to stop at publication.
Posts at Lusaka, Chilanga and Kitwe, placing research close to agriculture, industry and the Copperbelt minerals economy.

Strong Master’s-level researchers with a real publication record and three years’ experience are encouraged to apply.
