URGENT RECRUITMENT
Stewards Globe Limited Afriseed, a local seed company, on behalf of its partner in Kenya seeks to recruit and engage a Sales and Marketing Agronomist
JOB PURPOSE
The incumbent will support the development and growth of Afriseed’s seed business in the Kenyan market by providing agronomic, sales, marketing and market-development support to Afriseed’s local partner. The role will be responsible for promoting Afriseed seed varieties through demonstration plots, farmer and stakeholder engagement, field days, product promotion and direct sales activities. The position will also coordinate with Afriseed Zambia team and the Kenyan partner to facilitate timely seed exports, product registration and availability, market intelligence and development of sustainable distribution channels. The incumbent will also be responsible for helping translate Afriseed’s product performance into farmer adoption, customer confidence, increased seed sales and sustainable market growth in Kenya.
JOB PROFILE
Reporting to: Head of Sales and Marketing / Designated Supervisor Duty Station: Zambia Afriseed, with regular coordination with the Kenya partner Employment Type: Fixed Term x2 years renewable
I. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 Demonstration Plots and Product Promotion
Work closely with Afriseed’s Kenya-based partner to establish, manage and monitor demonstration plots for Afriseed seed varieties sites in strategic seed-growing and commercial farming areas in consultation with farmers, agro-dealers and the partner. Provide technical guidance on land preparation, planting, crop management, pest and disease management, harvesting and post-harvest handling of demonstration plots. Ensure demonstration plots are properly labelled, documented and maintained according to recommended agronomic practices. Organise and support farmer field days, demonstration visits, product launches and other promotional activities. Educate farmers, agro-dealers and other stakeholders on the agronomic characteristics, yield potential, climate resilience and appropriate management of Afriseed varieties. Collect farmer feedback and field performance information on Afriseed products and communicate findings to the relevant technical and commercial teams.
2.2 Sales and Marketing
- Carry out sales and marketing activities on behalf of and in collaboration with Afriseed’s appointed partner in Kenya in order to promote Afriseed seed products to farmers, agro-dealers, distributors, cooperatives, commercial farms, NGOs, government programmes and other potential institutional buyers.
- Identify new customers, distributors, agro-dealers and strategic market opportunities for Afriseed products and develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers.
- Support the partner in preparing seasonal sales plans, demand forecasts and product distribution plans and ensure product availability, customer requirements, competitor activities and market trends.
- Assist in developing promotional materials and implementing campaigns that strengthen Afriseed brand awareness and product visibility in Kenya.
2.3 Seed Export Coordination – Zambia to Kenya
Coordinate seed export activities between Afriseed Zambia and the appointed partner in Kenya.
- Work with Afriseed’s production, quality assurance, logistics, finance and sales teams to ensure export orders are prepared and dispatched according to agreed specifications and timelines.
- Liaise with appropriate regulatory, phytosanitary, customs, clearing and logistics stakeholders to facilitate compliant movement of seed from Zambia into Kenya.
- Identify potential export, regulatory or logistical challenges early and escalate them to management for timely resolution.
- Maintain complete documentation and records for all seed consignments exported to Kenya.
2.4 Market Development and Intelligence
- Conduct regular market assessments to identify demand for different crops, varieties and seed pack sizes and monitor competitor products, varieties, pricing, distribution strategies and promotional activities and give feedback to both Afriseed and the Kenyan Partner.
- Identify underserved geographical markets and recommend opportunities for expansion of Afriseed’s distribution network.
- Build relationships with farmer organisations, research institutions, government agencies, development organisations and private-sector actors that can support Afriseed’s market development.
2. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Performance will be assessed against agreed annual and seasonal targets, including:
- Achievement of seed sales and revenue targets in the assigned market.
- Number and quality of demonstration plots successfully established and managed.
- Number of farmer field days and promotional events conducted.
- Number of farmers and potential customers reached through demonstrations and marketing activities.
- Number of new agro-dealers, distributors and institutional customers recruited.
- Growth in repeat customers and seed orders.
- Accuracy and timeliness of seasonal demand forecasts.
- Timely coordination and successful delivery of seed exports from Zambia to Kenya.
- Compliance of export shipments with applicable regulatory and phytosanitary requirements.
- Quality and timeliness of market intelligence, sales and field performance reports.
- Growth in Afriseed product visibility and geographical market coverage in Kenya.
- Collection and reporting of customer and farmer feedback on Afriseed varieties.
3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Agricultural Science or Agricultural Economics. AIZ License valid for 2026
- At least 3 years’ relevant experience in seed sales, agronomy, agricultural marketing, crop production or a related commercial agricultural role.
- Practical experience establishing and managing crop demonstration plots.
- Experience selling or promoting certified seed, agricultural inputs or related agricultural products.
- Good understanding of cereal, legume and/or oilseed production systems.
- Experience working with farmers, agro-dealers, distributors and commercial agricultural customers.
- Knowledge of seed import/export processes and seed regulatory requirements will be an added advantage.

5. EXPECTED RESULTS
The Seed Sales and Marketing Agronomist is expected to contribute directly to the successful establishment and growth of Afriseed’s presence in Kenya by ensuring that:
- Afriseed varieties are effectively demonstrated and promoted under Kenyan farming conditions;
- farmers and commercial customers understand the agronomic and commercial value of Afriseed products
- the Kenyan partner receives strong technical and commercial support;
- seed sales and distribution networks expand sustainably;
- market information is systematically collected and used for decision-making;
- seed consignments from Zambia to Kenya are coordinated efficiently, compliantly and on time.
