Job Description Summary
- Plan and implement safety policies and procedures to comply with defined safety standards, regulations and laws.
Main Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and implement safety plans, policies and procedures.
- Conduct safety audits to identify risks and development possibilities. Investigates incidents effectively.
- Evaluate the organization's processes, systems, technology and ways of working and recommend changes that will improve and reduce the safety impact of the organization's operations.
- Coordinate the education and training of the organization's workforce on safety issues to ensure that they understand and comply with the organization's policies and standards.
- Liaise with and influence for relevant internal/external stakeholders and advocate safety mindset across the organization
Job Description
- Safety Management
- Implement and maintain site-specific health and safety management systems.
- Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, client requirements, and mining regulations.
- Conduct routine workplace inspections in underground and surface work areas.
- Monitor compliance with safe work procedures and standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture among employees and contractors.
- Risk Management
- Facilitate risk assessments for maintenance activities.
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend appropriate control measures.
- Monitor implementation and effectiveness of risk controls.
- Ensure Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and Take-5 assessments are conducted before work commences.
- Incident Management
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences.
- Identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Track closure of incident action items.
- Prepare incident reports and communicate lessons learned.
- Safety Training and Awareness
- Conduct safety inductions for new employees and visitors.
- Facilitate toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Deliver safety awareness campaigns and training programs.
- Monitor employee competency and compliance with mandatory safety training requirements.
- Compliance and Audits
- Conduct internal safety audits and inspections.
- Participate in client and regulatory audits.
- Ensure compliance with underground mining regulations and contractual requirements.
- Maintain all safety records, registers, permits, and documentation.
- Emergency Preparedness
- Support emergency response planning and drills.
- Ensure emergency equipment is available and inspected regularly.
- Participate in emergency response exercises and incident management teams.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities with the client.
- Contractor and Visitor Safety
- Verify contractor compliance with site safety requirements.
- Ensure visitors receive appropriate safety inductions and supervision.
- Monitor contractor performance and adherence to safety standards.
- Reporting
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly HSE reports.
- Track and report key safety performance indicators.
- Present safety performance updates during client and internal meetings.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, incidents, and training activities.

- Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR)
- Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR)

Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Safety management or related field
- Minimum of 3- 5 years experience in Safety management
