Row and Cereal Crop Manager

Key Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience managing large-scale commercial row and cereal crop production.
• Strong knowledge of agronomy, including fertilisation, irrigation, planting, crop protection, harvesting, and soil management.
• Experience managing crops such as maize, wheat, soybeans, barley, or other broad-acre crops.
• Proven ability to manage large permanent and seasonal agricultural workforces.
• Experience planning and coordinating multiple farming operations simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of regenerative agriculture, conservation farming, and sustainable crop production practices.
• Practical knowledge of agricultural machinery and equipment is advantageous.
• Excellent planning, organisational, and time management skills.
• Strong leadership, communication, and people management abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict seasonal production deadlines.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• High level of attention to detail and record-keeping ability.
• Self-motivated with a hands-on approach to farm management.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full crop production cycle from land preparation through to harvesting and crop delivery.
• Plan and oversee planting, irrigation, fertilisation, crop protection, and harvesting activities.
• Ensure the timely and accurate application of fertilisers, chemicals, and other production inputs.
• Monitor crop performance and implement strategies to maximise yield and quality.
• Coordinate harvesting, grading, storage, and delivery of crops.
• Lead, supervise, and develop permanent and seasonal farming teams.
• Prepare work schedules and allocate labour and resources efficiently.
• Monitor irrigation systems and ensure optimal water management practices.
• Promote regenerative agriculture and sustainable farming practices across operations.
• Maintain accurate production records, crop reports, and operational documentation.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with management to improve productivity, efficiency, and overall farm performance.

• Proven experience managing row and cereal crops such as maize, wheat, soybeans, or barley.
• Strong understanding of agronomic principles and crop management practices.
• Experience managing large agricultural teams and seasonal labour.
• Knowledge of regenerative agriculture and sustainable farming practices.
• Practical knowledge of agricultural machinery and irrigation systems is advantageous.
• Valid driver's licence is advantageous.
