REVENUE OFFICER

Zambia Postal Services Corporation (ZAMPOST), a State-Owned Enterprise mandated to provide postal, courier, logistics and financial services across the country, is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Revenue Officer.

Job Title: Revenue Officer (2) Unit/Section: Finance Station(s): Livingstone (1) & Mongu (1) Post Office Type of Employment: Permanent & Pensionable

Purpose of Role: The Revenue Officer will support the management of the Corporation’s revenue collection by ensuring the timely, accurate and efficient collection of funds, proper recording and reconciliation of revenue transactions, and compliance with financial policies, internal controls and statutory requirements.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

  1. Ensuring timely and accurate collection of revenue from postal services, digital payments, agency services and other income streams.
  2. Recording and verifying revenue transactions, cash receipts and deposits.
  3. Conducting daily, weekly and monthly reconciliations of revenue collections with bank deposits and accounting records.
  4. Investigating and resolving revenue discrepancies and maintaining accurate revenue ledgers and supporting documentation.
  5. Providing guidance and assistance to clients on billing, payment and revenue collection processes.
  6. Liaising with Provincial Postmasters and operational units to facilitate effective revenue collection at branch and district levels.
  7. Following up on overdue payments in collaboration with the Debt Management Officer.
  8. Preparing periodic revenue reports and providing information to support revenue forecasting, budgeting and financial reporting.
  9. Assisting with the preparation of revenue-related schedules and documentation for internal and external audits.
  10. Ensuring compliance with financial policies, internal controls and statutory requirements.
  11. Supporting the digitalisation and automation of revenue collection processes and recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  12. Working collaboratively with Finance staff, Provincial Postmasters and branch offices to achieve revenue collection targets.
  13. Assisting in guiding and training junior staff on revenue collection procedures.
  14. Supporting the Senior Accountant – Revenue in achieving the Section’s performance targets.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Sound knowledge of revenue collection, accounting principles and internal control procedures.
  • Proficiency in financial management systems such as SAP, Sage or Oracle and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively under supervision and meet set deadlines.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Diploma in Accountancy, Finance or a related field.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy, Finance or a related field will be an added advantage.
  3. Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant work experience in accounting or finance.
  4. Partial professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ZICA or CIMA.
  5. Must be a registered member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA).
