About the Quantity Surveyor Role

As a Quantity Surveyor with Falane Solutions Limited, you will be responsible for preparing detailed quantity take-offs, bills of quantities (BOQs), estimates, and tender submissions. You will develop unit rates that accurately reflect materials, labour, equipment, wastage, overheads, and profit margins. In addition, you will prepare clear client quotations, manage supplier and subcontractor quotations in collaboration with procurement, and maintain project budgets and cash flow forecasts.

Your expertise will also be essential in measuring completed works, preparing interim valuations and payment applications, and maintaining variation registers and pricing records. Keeping an updated rate database and measurement records will be key to supporting ongoing project cost control.

Key Responsibilities for Quantity Surveyor Jobs in Lusaka

• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, BOQs, estimates, and tender submissions
• Develop comprehensive unit rates covering materials, labour, equipment, wastage, overheads, and profit
• Draft client quotations with clearly defined scope, assumptions, and exclusions
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations in coordination with procurement
• Prepare project budgets, cash-flow forecasts, and cost-to-complete reports
• Measure completed works and prepare interim valuations and payment applications
• Maintain variation registers and pricing documentation
• Update and manage rate databases and measurement records

Candidate Requirements

• A degree in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent qualification
• Minimum of three years relevant experience, preferably with a building contractor in Zambia
• Membership in a relevant professional body
• Proven experience working on residential, commercial, and warehouse projects involving concrete, blockwork, structural steel, roofing, and finishes
• Strong knowledge of Zambian material prices, labour, and subcontractor rates
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and ability to measure from PDF and CAD drawings; experience with QS software is an advantage
• Ability to read architectural, structural, and services drawings
