Job description:

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

  • Develop and implement project-specific Quality Management Plans (QMPs)
  • Ensure compliance with approved IFC drawings, specifications, and technical standards
  • Conduct quality audits and inspections during construction activities
  • Maintain complete and auditable QA/QC documentation
  • Develop Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs)
  • Coordinate and witness field and laboratory testing activities
  • Identify and document non-conformances and coordinate corrective and preventive actions
  • Lead root cause investigations where quality failures occur
  • Liaise with the Construction Projects engineer, Supervisors, Surveyor, contractors and consultants on QA/QC matters
  • Participate in project progress meetings and technical reviews
  • Support project close-out documentation and handover processes

Qualifications

  • Full grade twelve (12) certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or a closely related discipline
  • Professional registration with recognized engineering body (EIZ/ERB)

Key skills

  • Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering and earthworks principles
  • Construction QA/QC, ITPs, hold points, non-conformances and as-built records
  • Engineering drawings, specifications, method statements and survey information
  • RCA, technical-query, design-change and Management of Change processes
  • Clear technical writing, document control and stakeholder communication

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in earthworks and construction
  • Demonstrated exposure to bulk earthworks, embankments, buttresses, drainage systems, construction materials and field quality control
  • Experience managing quality assurance and quality control of large projects
  • Familiarity with geotechnical and earthworks quality requirements
  • Experience in a mining or other high-consequence infrastructure environment is advantageous
