Gheewala Zambia Staffing & Recruitment Agency is hiring on behalf of our client company in the Pharmaceutical Industry for a suitably qualified and experienced Retail Pharmacy Store Manage.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Retail Pharmacy Store Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, people management, customer service, inventory, compliance and commercial performance of the pharmacy store while ensuring patients receive safe, professional and quality service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Lead, motivate and supervise pharmacy/store staff while promoting a positive and professional working environment.
  • Coordinate staff schedules, daily activities, workflow and operational priorities.
  • Ensure customers and patients receive respectful, efficient and professional service.
  • Support smooth pharmacy operations in accordance with applicable professional, legal and healthcare requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels, stock movement, expiry dates, losses, shortages and wastage.
  • Ensure accurate pricing, stock records, documentation and operational reporting.
  • Work closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, healthcare professionals, suppliers and customers.
  • Handle customer complaints, prescription-related concerns, stock shortages and operational challenges professionally.
  • Monitor sales performance, budgets, promotions, profitability and achievement of store targets.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer experience, sales performance and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure the pharmacy maintains appropriate standards of cleanliness, health, safety and workplace organization.
  • Support staff training, performance management, coaching and professional development.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient and customer information and uphold professional ethics.
  • Ensure timely coordination of deliveries, supplier requirements and other store activities.
  • Prepare and submit relevant operational, inventory, sales and performance reports.
  • Identify operational risks and implement appropriate corrective and preventive measures.

  • Able to coach employees, provide constructive feedback and develop staff capability.
  • Responds effectively to regulatory, technological, customer and market changes.
  • Able to prioritize urgent pharmacy and customer needs while maintaining smooth operations.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, fairness and professionalism under pressure.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and compliant pharmacy environment.
  • Balances patient care, employee wellbeing, service quality and commercial performance.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant qualification in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Business/Operations Management, Healthcare Management or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in retail pharmacy, pharmaceutical retail, healthcare operations or store management.
  • Previous supervisory or managerial experience will be highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience in inventory management, staff supervision, customer service and sales/target management.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations, regulatory requirements and professional standards.
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to work with pharmacy, inventory, POS or other relevant management systems.
