About the Role – Paramedic Jobs in NorthWestern Province Zambia

As an ALS Paramedic, you will respond promptly to medical and trauma emergencies, delivering advanced life support, stabilising patients on site, and facilitating their safe transfer to healthcare facilities. You will also provide clinical oversight and support to Clinical Officers at First Aid Stations, ensuring the highest standards of primary healthcare delivery. Your role will extend to emergency preparedness, clinical training, quality assurance, and medical support for remote and exploration operations, including topside assistance when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced life support assessment, treatment, resuscitation, and stabilisation for medical and trauma emergencies.
  • Support patient transfer and medical evacuation efforts as necessary.
  • Provide clinical guidance and oversight to Clinical Officers at First Aid Stations, escalating complex cases appropriately.
  • Offer medical support and remote clinical advice to exploration and remote teams, including emergency coordination.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and operational stakeholders to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Contribute to clinical governance through protocol development, audits, incident reviews, and quality assurance activities.
  • Lead and mentor Clinical Officers and emergency response personnel through training and competency development.
  • Maintain emergency preparedness by participating in major incident planning, drills, and simulations.
  • Ensure operational readiness of emergency vehicles, ALS equipment, medications, and medical resources.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in compliance with professional standards and company policies.
  • Conduct audits, monitor stock levels, and oversee clinical equipment and reporting systems to support service excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree-level qualification in Emergency Medical Care or Advanced Life Support, or equivalent professional certification.
  • Current professional registration and valid practising licence with the relevant health authority, including eligibility for registration with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ).
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Advanced Life Support Clinical Practice Guidelines and evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), advanced trauma, and paediatric emergency care (e.g., ITLS/PHTLS, PALS, or equivalents).
  • Minimum of five years’ post-qualification experience at an Advanced Life Support level.
  • Proven supervisory or managerial experience within emergency medical or clinical services.
  • Demonstrated involvement in clinical governance, including audits, quality improvement, and incident management.
  • Experience in clinical training, mentorship, and competency development of healthcare personnel.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Highly Desirable:

  • Experience working in mining, industrial, remote-site, or resource-limited environments.
  • Background supporting exploration or remote operations, including topside medical support and evacuation coordination.
  • Experience overseeing primary healthcare services alongside emergency medical care.
