Job description:

Overall, Job Purpose

• To assist the Aggregate crusher operations with stockpile management, feeding of crusher plants and loading trucks.
• This role will carry out the activities of the Multi-Skilled Operator at the Aggregate crusher to ensure the application of appropriate levels of safety and productivity are maintained.
• The Multi – Skilled Operator is an important role established to support operations at Aggregate crusher.

Specific Job Responsibility

• Conduct prestart and post inspection of an excavator.
• Ensuring that the housekeeping of the machine is well maintained to a good standard.
• Report mechanical defects immediately.
• Ensure good operation practices.
• Maintain water drainage as required by supervisor.
• Report all substandard/unsafe conditions to Supervisor.
• Follow applicable safety procedures.
• Ability to follow and execute work instructions in a safe and orderly manner.
• Carry out any other tasks as may be delegated upon you by the supervisor.

Job Specific Competencies

• Good communication skills.
• Excellent skills in operating a loader and excavator
• Must possess knowledge on how to do the pre- start on the machine.
• Must be able to identify defects.
• Must be conversant with controls/parts and their functions on a machine.
• Must possess knowledge about machine shut down and emergency procedures.
• Must be able to operate a two-way radio and be able to use of modular system**.**

Safety:

• Ensure that all work is carried out according to mine safety standards and procedures
• Assist with training staff on mine safety standards
• Continuous on the job risk analysis
• Report all unsafe or near missis to crushing supervisor
• Ensure proper and safe use of excavator and loader
• Operate strictly according to company and statutory quality, safety, environmental and health regulations and policies
• Report all incidents to the crushing supervisor

Experience required to perform in this job

• At least 8 years’ experience in mining and heavy earthwork machinery operation.
• Knowledge of operating an excavator and loader and its mechanical capabilities.
• Knowledge of feeding an Aggregate crusher plant and previous experience operating in an Aggregate crusher environment.

Qualifications

• Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Valid Driver’s license with at least 2 years driving experience.
• Loader and Excavator certificate
