Position Overview – Legal Officer Jobs in Lusaka

The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing litigation and debt recovery processes, supporting contract drafting and review, and providing legal advisory services across the organisation. This full-time position requires a proactive individual capable of navigating complex legal environments and representing the company in various judicial forums nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage litigation matters and represent Spectrum Credit Limited in court proceedings throughout Zambia.
• Support loan recovery efforts, including the enforcement of judgments and securities.
• Provide timely legal opinions and advice to management and business units.
• Coordinate with external legal counsel, courts, and law enforcement agencies.
• Ensure strict compliance with Zambian laws, court procedures, and professional standards.
• Handle debt recovery, commercial disputes, and enforcement proceedings efficiently.
• Draft, review, and advise on contracts, agreements, notices, and pleadings.
• Maintain accurate records of legal cases and report outcomes regularly.
• Identify potential legal risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Undertake regular travel to courts, branches, and clients across all provinces.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognised institution.
• Valid practising certificate and admission to the Zambian Bar through the Zambia Institute of Advanced Legal Education (ZIALE).
• Minimum of three years post-admission experience, with five or more years preferred, particularly in litigation related to debt recovery and commercial disputes.
• Possession of a valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively within Zambia.
• All academic qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
