Key Requirements

  • 2–3+ years’ experience in a general accounting, junior accountant, or similar finance role.
  • Proven experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, payments, and aged analysis.
  • Strong experience processing journals, maintaining general ledgers, and recording financial transactions.
  • Experience performing bank, cash, and petty cash reconciliations.
  • Experience supporting monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles, financial controls, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of VAT, PAYE, WHT, and applicable financial regulations.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and financial data analysis.
  • Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, Pastel, or similar systems.
  • Experience preparing financial schedules and supporting documentation for audits.
  • Experience supporting budgeting and financial forecasting processes.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail when handling financial information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet strict financial reporting deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to professionally handle client and supplier queries.
  • Experience within engineering, industrial, contracting, mining, or technical service environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounts payable and receivable activities.
  • Process supplier invoices, payments, client billing, and outstanding receivables.
  • Monitor aged receivables and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Capture daily financial transactions and prepare general ledger journal entries.
  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting records and audit trails.
  • Perform regular bank, cash, and petty cash reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciliation discrepancies and outstanding items.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close procedures.
  • Prepare financial schedules, supporting documentation, and reports.
  • Process employee expense claims and maintain accurate supplier documentation.
  • Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Support annual budgeting and financial forecasting activities.
  • Ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and within required deadlines.
  • Maintain proper filing and record-keeping of financial documentation.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with accounting policies, tax requirements, and financial regulations.
  • Respond to supplier and client financial queries and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Provide general accounting support to the Finance team as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • ACCA/CIMA Level 2 or equivalent accounting qualification.
  • Registered ZiCA membership with a valid practising licence.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables.
  • Experience with QuickBooks, SAP, Pastel, or similar accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable tax and financial regulations.
  • Minimum 2–3+ years’ relevant accounting experience.
