National Museums Board (NMB) is a Statutory Board under the Ministry of Tourism whose mandate is to establish, develop and manage dynamic and sustainable national museums for the preservation and interpretation of Movable heritage for the benefit of the present and future generation.

7. INFORMATION COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY OFFICER

Type of Employment – Permanent and Pensionable
Location – National Museums Board Secretariat, Lusaka

Job Purpose

To efficiently install, configure, maintain and support the organization’s ICT infrastructure, systems, networks and digital technologies ensuring their security, reliability, availability and optimal performance to support museum operations, digital transformation, business development, communication, exhibitions and revenue-generating activities.

Main Duties

  • Installs, configures, maintains, upgrades and provides technical support for computers, laptops, printers, mobile devices, audiovisual equipment, peripherals, operating systems and software applications.
  • Administers the organisation’s ICT systems, including user accounts, access rights, passwords, permissions, shared drives, email accounts and system configurations.
  • Manages and provides technical support for LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, internet connectivity, VPN, network devices, shared resources and other network infrastructure.
  • Maintains an accurate inventory of ICT assets, hardware, software, licences, network equipment and other digital resources, including tracking allocation, condition and utilisation.
  • Provides technical support for the National Museums Board website, email systems, online platforms, digital applications, online booking systems and other institutional digital services.
  • Provides technical support for digital museum exhibitions, including touch screens, interactive displays, digital signage, projectors, audiovisual equipment, multimedia systems and other visitor-interactive technologies.
  • Provides technical support for the development and production of digital graphics and multimedia content for exhibitions, marketing, public education, events and institutional communication using CorelDRAW, Adobe Creative Suite and other modern design applications.
  • Supports graphic design and digital content creation using emerging technologies and AI-assisted design and content-creation applications, where approved by the organisation.
  • Develops and maintains ICT documentation, including user guides, system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, asset registers, security procedures and ICT policies.
  • Advises management on ICT infrastructure requirements, emerging technologies, cybersecurity risks, digital transformation opportunities and technology investments that can improve efficiency and visitor experience.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable ICT policies, cybersecurity requirements, data protection requirements, software licensing conditions and institutional procedures.
  • Provides ICT support to NMB museums and offices as required and ensures standardisation of ICT systems and technologies across the organisation.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent with at least five (5) credits, including English and Mathematics
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
  • Member of Information and Communications Technology Association of Zambia (ICTAZ).
  • Two (2) years’ experience.
