Role Overview – HME Maintenance Trainer Jobs in Solwezi

Reporting directly to the Site Manager, the HME Maintenance Trainer will be responsible for delivering comprehensive theoretical and practical training programs. The goal is to equip trainees with the necessary skills and competencies to maintain and repair heavy mobile equipment safely and effectively within mining and maintenance environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on training and conduct assessments for the heavy equipment maintenance team, covering hydraulic systems, drive-trains, brakes, cooling systems, and electrical systems.
• Develop and implement training programs aimed at improving operational maintenance, efficiency, productivity, and workforce discipline.
• Ensure strict adherence to company policies, safety standards, and contractual obligations, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Permit to Work procedures.
• Maintain accurate training records and prepare detailed reports for management review.
• Support ongoing training initiatives and refresher courses for maintenance personnel.
• Serve as the central coordinator for workforce administration and HR compliance related to heavy mining equipment maintenance training.
• Coach apprentices and enhance the skills of existing maintenance technicians through tailored hands-on coaching.
• Identify additional training needs and provide workplace coaching to address specific skill gaps.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Trade qualification in Heavy Equipment Mechanic, such as Diesel Mechanic or Fitter.
• Relevant training qualifications, e.g., Assessors certification, TEVETA, or training methodology credentials.
• At least 5 years of practical experience in heavy equipment maintenance within the mining sector.
• Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) diagnostic software and service systems.
• Physically fit and able to work safely in a mining environment.
