Position Overview

The Health, Safety, Occupation & Quality Officer will be responsible for administering and analyzing various components of environmental, health, and safety programs. This includes developing internal policies and health and safety strategies aligned with group standards to ensure a safe and compliant working environment.

Key Responsibilities for Health Safety Officer Jobs in Kalumbila

• Maintain and update environmental, health, and safety policies and programs in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
• Plan and promote safety initiatives to foster a culture of safety awareness and compliance.
• Collaborate with regional environmental, health, and safety advisory committees to provide expert guidance.
• Develop and implement safe operational procedures that address all relevant hazards.
• Conduct regular site inspections at offices and filling stations to ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
• Recommend and implement changes to working practices to enhance safety and meet legislative requirements.
• Support the Head of Department in preparing health and safety strategies and policies.
• Lead in-house training sessions for managers and employees on health and safety risks and best practices.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, incidents, and accidents, and generate reports with improvement recommendations.
• Stay current with new legislation and maintain knowledge of hazardous conditions through assessments and program evaluations.
• Administer fire prevention programs, including evacuation procedures and maintenance of fire safety equipment.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Diploma in Safety Management, Engineering Science, or related disciplines.
• Minimum of 3 yearsexperience in HSSE management, preferably within mining or engineering sectors.
• Exposure to fuel depot operations is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Zambian Environmental, Health & Safety Laws.
• Possession of a Class C or higher drivers license.
• Membership in a relevant professional body is required.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead quality and safety initiatives.
