The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining comprehensive Health, Safety, and Environmental management systems, specifically tailored for bridge and other infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities for HSE Officer Jobs in Lusaka

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve HSE management systems for construction projects.
• Ensure compliance with Zambian health, safety, and environmental laws and CCECC’s HSE protocols.
• Conduct hazard identification, risk assessments, and regular safety inspections on sites.
• Prepare and submit detailed HSE reports, records, and documentation.
• Lead safety inductions, toolbox talks, awareness campaigns, and training sessions for staff and subcontractors.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; recommend corrective and preventive measures.
• Monitor environmental protection efforts to ensure adherence to environmental management plans.
• Promote a strong safety culture throughout all project activities.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness and response initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with project management, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.

Qualifications and Experience Required

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Safety Engineering, Civil Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in HSE management within the construction or civil engineering sectors, preferably on bridge or major infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of Zambian occupational health, safety, and environmental legislation.
• Professional HSE certification is essential.
• Proven experience conducting risk assessments, safety inspections, incident investigations, and environmental compliance monitoring.
• Excellent report writing, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
