Background

The Christian Health Association of Lesotho (CHAL) is a network of church-owned health facilities comprising 8 hospitals, 71 health centres and 4 nursing training institutions across Lesotho. CHAL is constitutionally mandated to facilitate the participation of Christian churches in ensuring that the right to health for all is upheld to the highest quality. CHAL collaborates with the Government of Lesotho, development partners and other stakeholders to provide quality health services and strengthen the health system.

CHAL has entered into an agreement with EGPAF Lesotho to implement a new project under the Bureau of Global Health Security and Diplomacy (GHSD) through the United States Department of State. The project aims to strengthen health service delivery, optimise programme performance, build health facility capacity and improve health outcomes across CHAL-supported facilities through a data-driven approach.

Project Coordinator

Responsibilities

The GHSD Project Coordinator will provide overall coordination, implementation, monitoring and reporting of the GHSD Project within CHAL. The position will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure effective implementation of project activities in accordance with approved project plans, donor requirements, CHAL policies, Government of Lesotho requirements and applicable programme guidelines.

The role will support achievement of agreed project milestones, provide evidence-based support for TB/HIV, SRHMNCAH-N and NCD+MH C&T, provide technical assistance, training and mentoring across CHAL facilities, monitor targets and collaborate with GHSD consortium partners to optimise programme performance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Services Management, Project Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Nursing or a related field.
• At least 5–7 years' experience managing or coordinating health programmes, preferably donor-funded programmes.
• Demonstrated experience in project planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
• Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience working with health facilities.
• Experience in budget monitoring and financial management.
• Experience working with donor-funded programmes and/or international development partners.
• Good understanding of health systems and programme implementation in Lesotho.
• Knowledge of basic project management tools is an added advantage.
