Role Overview: GIS Internship Opportunity in Chingola

The GIS Intern will provide vital support in mapping, spatial data collection, and analysis related to water supply and sanitation infrastructure. Under supervision, the intern will gain exposure to GIS software, spatial database management, and GPS-enabled data collection tools, contributing to infrastructure documentation and network mapping.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in mapping and updating water supply and sanitation infrastructure.
• Support the collection, processing, and analysis of geographic and spatial data.
• Prepare GIS maps, infrastructure layouts, and technical reports.
• Participate in water distribution network mapping activities.
• Assist with infrastructure asset inventory and record management.
• Gain practical experience with GIS software and GPS-enabled data collection tools.
• Support maintenance and updating of spatial databases.
• Assist with infrastructure documentation and mapping assignments under supervision.

Eligibility and Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a qualification in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or a related field.
• Strong interest in GIS, mapping, and spatial data analysis.
• Basic computer literacy with eagerness to learn new technical applications.
• Good analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Willingness to undertake practical field and office assignments under supervision.
• Interest in water supply, sanitation infrastructure, and spatial information management.

Note: Knowledge of ArcGIS or QGIS software is an added advantage but not mandatory.
